For 27 years No Smoking Day has been the UK’s biggest health campaign of its kind. Last year almost a million people quit on the Day, and studies prove it’s one of the most cost effective ways of promoting better health in the workplace.
Aside from a range of potentially fatal conditions linked to smoking, smokers are also more likely to suffer from poor general health; recent research shows smokers take an average of eight days more sick leave a year than non-smoking colleagues.

Pam Waldron, Head of Operations for the HSE’s Field Operations Directorate in the North East, and Neil Malkin, senior investigating officer for Durham Constabulary, will outline details of the circumstances and failures that led to the tragedy, the investigation, and the Crown Court trial.
